Academician Qiuliang Wang has received the 2026 International Lifetime Achievement Award for Numerical Modelling of High Temperature Superconductors

From June 15 to 18, the 10th International Workshop on Numerical Modelling of High Temperature Superconductors was held at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. The Professional Working Group on Numerical Modelling of High Temperature Superconductors awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Numerical Modelling of High Temperature Superconductors to Wang Qiuliang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The conference chairs, Hongye Zhang and Markus Mueller, presented the award to him on site.

At this conference, the Professional Working Group on Numerical Modelling of High Temperature Superconductors specially established the Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize scholars who have made pioneering academic contributions and led the global development of the field of numerical modelling of high temperature superconductors. Academician Wang Qiuliang received this award for his outstanding contributions to advancing the development of high-temperature superconducting technology, particularly for his achievements in developing world-record high-field high-temperature superconducting magnets, as well as validated numerical modelling tools for the design and analysis of high-temperature superconducting magnets oriented toward engineering applications.

This conference focused on the theoretical modelling of high-temperature superconducting electromagnetic systems, simulation optimization, and the integration with engineering industrialization, serving as a highly recognized authoritative academic platform in the field of high-temperature superconducting numerical modelling and applications. The conference featured in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge topics including numerical modelling of high-temperature superconducting materials, multi-physics coupled simulation, and engineering applications.
